A training event was held in Kyiv within the framework of the national project “Childcare in Ukraine: A Systemic Approach for Better Recovery”, supported by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the All-Ukrainian Foundation “Step by Step,” and the Government of Sweden. The aim of the project was to strengthen participants’ capacity to organize services such as mini-nurseries or family (home-based) kindergartens for children under three years of age, as well as to develop professional competencies necessary for providing high-quality care and early childhood development.

Berdyansk State Pedagogical University was proudly represented by Daryna Lytvychenko, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Applied Psychology and Speech Therapy; Olena Zhadko, FPSSSE alumna and stakeholder of the “Special Education” program; and Inna Tutova, a master’s degree student of the A2 “Preschool Education” program. All three participants successfully passed a competitive selection process, demonstrating a high level of professional preparation and motivation to contribute to the development of early childhood care in Ukraine.

Over two days, the participants took part in lectures, training sessions, and practical workshops focused on the creation of modern childcare spaces, regulatory frameworks for the operation of mini-nurseries, registration and licensing procedures, financial modeling, planning, risk assessment, and reporting.

Special attention was given to developing entrepreneurial skills and building readiness for the practical establishment and management of family-based childcare centers. The participants also had the opportunity to exchange experiences with colleagues from various regions of Ukraine, discuss current challenges in early childhood care, and explore innovative solutions.

Following the event, the representatives of the Faculty of Preschool, Special and Social Education emphasized that the project became not only a platform for professional growth but also a source of inspiration for implementing new ideas and initiatives aimed at improving early childhood care services in Ukraine.
