On October 15, an all-university open lecture was held by Associate Professor Nadiia Dira from the Department of Pedagogy on the topic «The Code of Assertiveness: How to Say «No» and Not Feel Guilty».
During the lecture, psychological and pedagogical aspects of assertive behavior were discussed as an essential component of a modern teacher’s professional culture. Participants learned about the differences between passive, aggressive, and assertive communication styles, reflected on the importance of respecting both oneself and others in interpersonal interaction, and discussed common barriers to developing confident and balanced behavior.
Special attention was given to the practical significance of assertiveness for professionals in the humanities – the ability to defend one’s position without violating others’ boundaries, to say «no» without feelings of guilt, and to maintain inner balance in professional activities.
By combining theoretical insights with real-life examples from pedagogical practice, the lecture sparked genuine interest and proved valuable for a wide audience of both lecturers and students of the university.
