Last week, instructors and students of the Faculty of Psychological and Pedagogical Education and Arts gathered in the classrooms of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University in Zaporizhzhia.
As part of the meeting, Associate Professor of the Department of Primary Education, Marina Nesterenko, led an engaging workshop on exploring the possibilities of virtual reality. For most participants, it was their first hands-on experience with VR headsets. The attendees tested both educational VR applications (a journey into the world of dinosaurs, an exploration of how alcohol affects the human brain) and entertainment programs, discussing their potential for learning and leisure. After the practical session, a lively discussion ensued – students shared their impressions, described their sensations in the virtual environment, and analyzed the benefits and risks of using VR in various fields, including in the teaching practice of today’s educators. For everyone involved, it was truly an unforgettable experience.
The Meta Quest 2 virtual reality headsets were purchased with funding from the Berdyansk State Pedagogical University project for fundamental research by young scholars No. 0123U105357, “An Integrated Approach to the Professional Training of STEM-Oriented Teachers: Synergy of High-Tech and Digital Technologies.”
