Creative Workshop for Primary Education Students «Veles Night»

Recently, at the Faculty of Psychological and Pedagogical Education and Arts of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Primary Education Olha Kacherova conducted a creative workshop titled “Veles Night.”

During the event, students learned about ancient Ukrainian traditions of celebrating the night from October 31 to November 1 – a time when, according to ancient beliefs, the boundary between the world of the living and the otherworld became especially thin. Olha Kacherova spoke about the symbolism of the pumpkin, fire, and light in the rituals of this period, emphasizing the profound meaning of folk customs and the connection between humans and nature.

In the practical part of the workshop, students created roses from autumn leaves and painted plaster pumpkins, expressing their personal artistic vision of this autumn tradition and its role in shaping Ukrainian identity.

The atmosphere of the event was filled with aesthetics, warmth, vibrant colors, and the magic of inspiration.
