On November 21, 2025, the Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Human Health of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University held an educational event dedicated to the Day of Dignity and Freedom — a day that commemorates the Ukrainian people’s aspiration for freedom, democracy, and national unity. The event became an important part of shaping students’ civic awareness and deepening their understanding of the key events of modern Ukrainian history.
The event was moderated by Natalia Kryvun, Deputy Dean for Educational Work of the Faculty and Senior Lecturer at the Department of Choreography and Fitness of BDPU.
The meeting began with a moment of silence honoring the memory of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes and all those who gave their lives for Ukraine’s freedom.
In her opening remarks, Natalia Kryvun emphasized that the Day of Dignity and Freedom combines the memory of the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity — events that shaped contemporary Ukrainian history and affirmed the European choice of the Ukrainian nation. She highlighted that the younger generation is the heir to the values of freedom, democracy, and human dignity.
During the event, students learned about the main chronological milestones of the two revolutions, watched documentary materials that conveyed the atmosphere of Maidan, and explored the key values underlying societal change: freedom, unity, responsibility, and the power of civic choice.
Special attention was given to honoring the courage of the participants of revolutionary events and all those who fought for Ukraine’s independence and freedom. The moderator noted that the heroism of these individuals remains a moral compass for every citizen.
At the conclusion of the event, Yuliia Taranenko, Head of the Department of Choreography and Fitness, addressed the audience. She thanked the students for their attention and emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory. She highlighted that cultivating a conscious and responsible generation is one of the key missions of the university community.
Such educational events at the Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Human Health play a crucial role in fostering students’ patriotism. They help develop national awareness, understanding of the value of freedom, and a sense of responsibility for the future of their country.
The Day of Dignity and Freedom is not just a page of the past—it is a call for all of us to preserve unity, support one another, and move forward in building a dignified future for Ukraine.
