As part of the implementation of the Order of the Department of Education and Science of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration dated September 16, 2025, No. 392 “On the Conduct of the Civil Protection Day and the Week of Life Safety Knowledge in Institutions of Professional Pre-Higher and Higher Education in the 2025/2026 Academic Year,” a thematic online event titled “Safe Space: From Theory to Action” was held in November at the Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Human Health of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University.
The event was moderated by Natalia Kryvun, Deputy Dean for Educational Work of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Human Health and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Choreography and Fitness.
The purpose of the event was to increase the level of readiness of participants in the educational process and the academic staff of the faculty to act in emergency situations, to develop practical safety skills, and to raise awareness of the importance of following civil protection rules.
The honorary guest of the event was Olesia Yurchenko, Chief Inspector of Department No. 3 of the Zaporizhzhia District Office of Civil Protection and Preventive Activities of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zaporizhzhia Region, Lieutenant Colonel of the Civil Protection Service. The specialist shared up-to-date information about current challenges in the field of civil security and provided professional recommendations on minimizing risks in everyday life.
Olesia Anatoliivna emphasized the importance of a responsible attitude toward safety rules, as effective response to dangerous situations depends on the coordinated actions and preparedness of each individual. She also spoke about common mistakes people make during emergencies and answered questions from teachers and students.
After the event, the floor was given to Yuliia Taranenko, Head of the Department of Choreography and Fitness, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, who thanked the organizers and participants for conducting the Civil Protection Day and stressed its importance for raising awareness and readiness for emergency situations.
The event confirmed that systematic training and information dissemination are key factors in creating a safe educational environment. Conducting the Civil Protection Day and activities within the Life Safety Week not only deepens students’ knowledge but also develops responsible life competencies that can save lives.
