Modern scientific approaches to the training of athletes: participation of BSPU students in an all-Ukrainian online lecture

On December 17, 2025, higher education students of the Faculty ofPhysical Culture, Sports and Human Health of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, who study in the educational and professional programs “Physical Culture” and “Physical Culture and Sports” at the bachelor’s and master’s levels, as well as teachers of the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Teaching Methods, took part in the first online lecture from the series of lectures by prominent scientists in the field of physical culture and sports.

The event was organized by the NOC Department of Ukraine in the Kyiv region together with the Department of Health and Physical Culture and Sports Rehabilitation of the State Tax University in order to attract specialists of different levels from all regions of Ukraine to obtain new modern knowledge on relevant issues of athlete training.

The topic of the first lecture – “The role of the IOC in creating a system of nutritional and metabolic support for the training process of athletes” – aroused considerable interest among applicants and scientific and pedagogical workers.

The speaker of the event was Larysa Gunina-Orlova, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Health Technologies and Physical Culture and Sports Rehabilitation of the State Tax University, a well-known scientist and practitioner who worked for many years at the National Anti-Doping Center of Ukraine. L.M. Gunina-Orlova is the author of more than 500 scientific papers, including 17 monographs, and took a direct part in the training of athletes of children’s, youth and elite sports – prize-winners of the Olympic Games, championships of Ukraine, Europe and the world.

Participation in the lecture contributed to the deepening and updating of the knowledge of applicants in a number of academic disciplines, in particular:

  • “Hygiene of physical education and sports and the basics of rational nutrition”;
  • “Sports medicine”;
  • “Olympic and professional sports”;
  • “Current problems of modern training of athletes”;
  • “Improving sports skills”.

The information received is of important practical importance for the future professional activities of specialists in the field of physical education and sports, coaching and health technologies.
