February 9, 2026 was a special day for the correspondence students of journalism: they officially crossed the threshold of the editorial office of the MTM TV channel (Zaporozhye), starting their offline practice. This is the moment when textbooks are put aside, and they are replaced by the real drive of the television backstage and dynamic on-air rhythm.

Conducting the internship in this format was made possible thanks to the personal assistance of the head of the Department of Ukrainian Language and Journalism, Associate Professor Krystyna Pyrohovova and practice leaders – associate professors of the Department of Ukrainian Language and Journalism, Anzhelika Shulzhenko, who organized conditions for maximum immersion of students in the professional environment and direct communication with media professionals.

The first day turned out to be extremely eventful. Students didn’t just observe, but literally “lived” the path of content creation together with professionals. Familiarization with the work of the editorial office covered all levels: from journalists and editors to producers, directors and editors.

The main discovery of the day for future media professionals was the realization that a modern journalist is a multifunctional specialist. This is not only a person who is a master of words, but also a coordinator who understands the technical nuances of filming, controls the editing process, and keeps a close eye on each stage of production.

“Working in the field and in the studio requires not only creativity, but also iron discipline and an understanding of all technical processes”, the students shared their impressions.

The beginning is not just about theory: the interns have already received their first editorial assignments. This is a real chance to apply the knowledge gained in the classrooms and feel real responsibility for the result that the viewer will soon see.

Ahead are weeks of intensive work, new acquaintances, and professional training. We wish our future colleagues inspiration and successful careers!
