From February 2 to March 1, 2026, the second stage of the All-Ukrainian competition-defense of scientific and research works of students-members of the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the 2025/2026 academic year was held in Zaporizhia region under the auspices of the Department of Education and Science of the Zaporizhia Regional State Administration. In particular, the Department of Physics and Astronomy worked within the framework of the competition, which was represented by the following four sections: “Theoretical Physics”, “Applied Physics”, “Astronomy”, and “Aerophysics and Space Research”.

The jury of the department included teachers from the Department of Physics of the National University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic”, the Department of General and Applied Physics of the Zaporizhzhia National University, as well as the Department of Physics, Mathematics and Teaching Methods of the Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, which was represented by the Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Hanna Kolomoets. The competition was held in three stages: in-person evaluation of works by jury members; poster defense, as well as defense of students’ scientific works in the form of an online conference.

The jury considered 8 scientific papers by students-members of the Academy of Sciences, which concerned both theoretical research and practical issues that are important in applied science and in everyday human life. The jury members especially noted the work of Bohdan Rekun, a 9th grade student of the Zaporizhzhia Specialized Boarding School “Sichovyi Collegium”, “Research of  UAV Aerodynamics and Their Application in Drone Air Defense.” The jury noted that this work is relevant in today’s conditions and also has undeniable scientific value.

The work of the department showed that despite martial law, which makes its own adjustments to the educational process, the interest of young students in creative scientific work remains quite high.
