On March 10, 2026, Doctor of Biological Sciences Leonid Horobets and Candidate of Technical Sciences Ivan Merdukh held a meeting dedicated to the implementation of the textbook “Biology. Grade 9” (authored by L.V. Horobets, I.V. Kravets, H.P. Loyosh, O.B. Abrat, and I.I. Merdukh). The authors discussed methodological approaches to explaining evolutionary processes and shared practical ideas for organizing students’ cognitive activities.

The lecture was attended by Master’s degree students from Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, specializing in 014.05 Secondary Education (Biology and Human Health).

In particular, the authors focused on which theories of the origin of life are covered in the modern school curriculum, explained how to utilize classic evidence of evolution in light of current trends in molecular biology, and provided advice on navigating challenging situations that may arise while teaching the topic.

Students of the “Secondary Education. Biology and Human Health” Master’s program had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and enhance the competencies developed during their studies in courses such as:

  • Molecular Foundations of Life
  • Current Issues in Biology
  • Evolutionary Development of Biological Systems
  • Modern Technologies and Methodologies for Teaching Biology and Health Basics
