In the modern conditions of digitalization of education, the problem of professional self-improvement of a teacher who is able to effectively implement an individualized approach to learning is of particular relevance. This issue was the subject of the scientific and methodological seminar “Innovative methodological strategies for teacher self-improvement in a distance educational environment”, which was held at the Department of Biology, Human Health and Physical Rehabilitation of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University.

The seminar considered modern approaches to the development of pedagogical skills in the use of digital educational resources. Particular attention was paid to the use of graphic design as an effective means of structuring and visualizing educational information, which contributes to increasing the accessibility of educational content and the formation of a barrier-free educational environment. It was noted that in the activities of a teacher of biology and the basics of health, the use of infographics, interactive diagrams, digital illustrations and presentations provides a high level of clarity and practicality of educational material.

The seminar participants discussed the possibilities of using interactive technologies, including blended learning, flipped classroom, gamification, project-based learning, adaptive learning, critical thinking development technologies, as well as the use of digital platforms and services: Moodle, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Canva, Genially, Mentimeter, Padlet, Jamboard. The use of these tools contributes to the activation of cognitive activity of students, the development of independence and the formation of research skills.

A separate area of discussion was student scientific activity, which involves involving future biology teachers in research activities, creating scientific projects, presentations, infographics and interactive educational products. Examples of student research were presented, devoted to studying the impact of visualization on the effectiveness of learning material, as well as developing didactic materials using digital design in biology lessons. Such activity contributes to the development of research skills, academic integrity, creativity and readiness for professional self-development. The scientific and methodological seminar involved master’s level students of the educational and professional program “Secondary Education. Biology and Human Health” as speakers and listeners, which increased the level of their methodological training and contributed to the development of skills for carrying out scientific activities.

An important aspect of the seminar was interactive inspiration as a factor of pedagogical inspiration, which stimulates a creative approach to the organization of the educational process, promotes the development of creativity, pedagogical reflection and readiness to introduce innovations into professional activities. The combination of graphic design capabilities with interactive digital technologies creates conditions for effective visualization of biological processes, modeling of phenomena related to human health, and the formation of a holistic scientific worldview of students.

Therefore, the integration of innovative pedagogical technologies, graphic design capabilities, and a practice-oriented approach is an important factor in improving the quality of the distance educational environment and forming the readiness of a modern teacher for continuous professional self-improvement..
