During the curatorial hour, applicants for 301DO of the FDSSO group joined the online cultural and educational event “Educational Testaments of Sofia Rusova: “Come, Let’s Live for Our Children”. The curator of the group, Associate Professor of the Department of Preschool Education Alla Omelyanenko, was at this event live. The event took place at the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv.
Speaker Halyna Datsyuk highlighted the unique pages of the life of the founder of Ukrainian preschool education, Sofia Rusova, including the following: opening the first kindergarten in Kyiv at the age of 15; organizing schools and libraries throughout Ukraine; preparing and publishing the Ukrainian “Primer”; head of the Department of Preschool and Extracurricular Education in the Government of the UNR; persecution, arrests, and imprisonment for his pro-Ukrainian stance; cultural diplomacy in favor of Ukraine until the end of his life.
The moderator of the meeting, Alla Havrylyuk, kindly invited the director of the museum from the Sofia Rusova Kindergarten, the director of the Ripky Lyceum, and the director of the Pedagogical Museum of Ukraine to speak, who unanimously emphasized the need for a modern reading of the pedagogical heritage as a life-giving source for the development of modern preschool education.
Students of the 301 DO group of the FDSSO are grateful to the organizers of the event for the opportunity to touch Sophia’s wills, which are fundamental in raising preschool children.
