Vice-rector for scientific work of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University Yana Sychikova told about new research in the field of artificial intelligence on her Facebook page.

The article was published in the journal Nature on March 31, 2026.

In co-authorship with Serhii Nazarovets – senior researcher at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University – they raised the issue of the need for an ethical basis for the use of AI in the current conditions.

In “AI used in war requires a strong ethical system”, the scientists expressed the opinion: “a clear ethical basis is needed to manage AI in conflicts”.

The authors propose using the CARE principles:

  • Collective benefit – does AI protect civilians or only enhance the ability to defeat?;
  • Authority to control – do people have control over their data when it is used in military systems?
  • Responsibility – who is responsible for decisions made with the participation of AI?
  • Ethics – are systems that can cause harm to civilians permissible?

Yana Sychikova notes that such a sub shifts the focus of attention: from the questions of “how the system works” to “whom it harms and whom it protects”.
