To mark World AIDS Day, the Faculty of Psychological and Pedagogical Education and Arts of BSPU held an informational and educational meeting featuring Tetiana Hyrlaku, a social consultant at the Public Center of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society. The purpose of the event was to increase young people’s awareness of the ways HIV is transmitted, modern approaches to prevention, and to promote responsible attitudes toward personal health.

During the event, participants received generalized information on how the human immunodeficiency virus is transmitted and which types of contact do not pose a risk. Special attention was given to common myths and misconceptions that often lead to the stigmatization of people living with HIV infection. The speaker presented current statistical data, highlighted the trends in the spread of HIV in Ukraine and worldwide, and emphasized the importance of regular testing.

The interactive part enabled attendees to practice skills of appropriate behavior when communicating with people living with HIV, learn to avoid discriminatory practices, and obtain practical knowledge about rapid testing and available consultation services.

The meeting served as an important reminder that awareness and responsibility are key elements of HIV prevention. The event contributed to fostering a more conscious attitude toward the topic and increasing young people’s readiness to act cautiously, attentively, and without prejudice.
