Webinars

On April 23, 2026, on the occasion of World Book and Copyright Day, the “Quorum” Legal Clinic of BSPU organized an educational online webinar.

The event was moderated by the head of the BSPU Legal Clinic, Associate Professor of the Department of Law, Kateryna Dudorova. The speakers from the Legal Clinic were law students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities: Valentyna Matus (3rd year), Iryna Derman (3rd year), and Daria Luzhanska (Master’s program).

Students from various specialties, as well as teachers and library staff of BSPU, joined the webinar via the Zoom platform.

In the “Street Law” (practical law) format, the following issues regarding copyright in literary works were discussed:

  • Who, besides the author, can hold copyright?
  • What rights do copyright holders have, and are these rights limited in time?
  • What are the ways to protect violated copyright?
  • Who owns the rights to non-original objects generated by AI? And does copyright have a future in the digital age?

Students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, studying in programs such as Law, Philology, Literary and Artistic Management, Secondary Education (Ukrainian Language and Literature, English), and Journalism, actively participated in the discussion. The participants learned the key provisions of copyright law, provided correct answers to the speakers’ questions, and shared their own experiences in protecting their copyrights violated on the internet.

Today, the world of copyright is undergoing the greatest transformation of the past 100 years. Digitalization is setting new rules. Therefore, the discussion on copyright was engaging and valuable.
