On November 5, 2026, a guest lecture entitled “Gamification of Physical Education Lessons” was held at the Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Human Health of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University. The event took place online via Zoom as part of the course “Theory and Methods of Physical Education.”
The guest lecturer was Daria Piatnytska, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Education of the Municipal Institution “Kharkiv Humanitarian-Pedagogical Academy” of the Kharkiv Regional Council, and a teacher of the highest qualification category.
The guest lecture addressed current issues in integrating gamification into physical education. Particular attention was paid to the potential of game mechanics to increase students’ motivation, encourage physical activity, and foster a lasting interest in physical education classes.
The use of gamification opens up new opportunities to improve modern physical education lessons, promote teamwork, initiative and creativity, and create a positive emotional learning environment.
The lecture topic is relevant to the preparation of future professionals enrolled in the educational programmes offered by the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Teaching Methods: “Physical Education” in specialty A4 “Secondary Education (Physical Education)” and “Physical Culture and Sports” in specialty A7 “Physical Culture and Sports” at both the first (Bachelor’s) and second (Master’s) levels of higher education.
Familiarity with modern educational technologies helps future teachers and specialists in physical culture and sports develop professional thinking and readiness to introduce innovative approaches into their professional practice.
Gamification is particularly relevant in the context of implementing the New Ukrainian School concept, which emphasizes competency-based learning, active student participation in the learning process, and the development of each learner’s individual potential.
Guest lectures delivered by academic staff from other higher education institutions are an important component of improving the educational process and developing academic cooperation. Such events offer opportunities to exchange professional experience, explore contemporary teaching practices, and improve the quality of higher education.
The Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Teaching Methods of BSPU extends its sincere gratitude to Daria Piatnytska for delivering an informative guest lecture, demonstrating professionalism and openness to cooperation, and contributing to the development of modern physical education.
We look forward to continued fruitful cooperation and the implementation of joint educational initiatives!
