Illuminated by the Wisdom of Sofia Rusova: Heritage and Modernity

The Presidium of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine has decided to declare 2026 the Year of Sofia Rusova

On the occasion of the 170th anniversary of the birth of the founder of Ukrainian preschool, Associate Professor of the Department of Preschool Education Alla Omelyanenko acted as an invited speaker at a solemn meeting held at the Sofia Rusova Preschool Education Institution № 584 in Kyiv.In her speech, Alla Omelyanenko noted that the core of the concept of national education, according to Sofia Rusova, is teaching preschool children their native language.An outstanding Ukrainian educator indicated which path we should take to best develop children’s language: we should monitor good pronunciation, we should teach beautiful, light rhythmic poems, let children speak freely on topics of interest to them, and encourage them to compose independent works and short stories

Unforgettable impressions and poignant emotions remained from the musical and literary greeting of the children and teachers of ZDO № 584 (director Natalia Myronyuk).

As part of the event, a tour to the museum of public figure Sofia Rusova was conducted by Lyudmila Sinekop.

Inspired by the ideas of Sofia Rusova, today and tomorrow we will realize our pedagogical potential in national preschool education.
