On March 16, 2026, undergraduate and graduate students of the specialty I10 “Social Work and Counseling” joined an online meeting dedicated to international internship opportunities, conducted by representatives of the youth organization AIESEC (Kharkiv).

The event was held within the framework of the academic courses “Public Associations and Movements” and “Civic Initiatives in Times of Crisis” and aimed to broaden students’ understanding of the activities of international youth organizations and their role in professional development.

During the meeting, the speakers – Kseniia Bychko, PR Manager, Inna Kolesnikova, Head of the PR Department, and Maryna Bondarenko, Head of Professional and Teaching Internships – provided detailed information about the opportunities offered through AIESEC programs.

In particular, participants learned about the countries where internships are available, the application and selection process, as well as the key stages of preparation for participation in international programs. Special attention was given to the benefits of international experience, including the development of intercultural communication, acquisition of professional competencies, improvement of foreign language skills, and the formation of a global mindset.

An important focus of the meeting was the introduction to the role of AIESEC programs in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The speakers emphasized that most international internships are aligned with global goals such as quality education, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, reduced inequalities, and partnerships for sustainable development. Participation in such programs allows students not only to gain professional experience but also to contribute to addressing pressing social issues at the international level.

The meeting was held in an interactive format, allowing students to ask questions and receive comprehensive answers regarding participation in internship programs. Particular interest was shown in practical aspects, including funding opportunities, living conditions, and combining internships with academic studies.

Participation in such events is an important component of professional training for future social work specialists, as it fosters the development of an active civic position, enhances mobility, and supports integration into the international professional environment.

The event became a valuable opportunity for students to learn more about international initiatives, understand the significance of global challenges, and discover new prospects for personal and career development.
