On September 26, 2025, the X All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference «Research Work in the System of Training Teacher-Specialists in Natural Sciences, Technology and Computer Fields» was held remotely at the Faculty of Physical-Mathematical, Computer and Technology Education of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University. The conference co-organizers were the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine and the Ukrainian State University named after M.Drahomanov.
The scientific forum traditionally brought together renowned scientists, educators, young researchers, and higher education students from various regions of Ukraine who are concerned with the problems of modern natural sciences, computer science, and technology education. The conference organizing committee received 102 applications and materials from representatives of 16 scientific institutions, higher education institutions, and general secondary education institutions of Ukraine. Among them were: 17 applications from Doctors of Sciences and Professors; 34 from Candidates of Sciences, Associate Professors, and Doctoral candidates; 51 applications from Assistant Professors, Lecturers, Graduate Students, Teachers, and Higher Education Students. Direct participation in the conference involved 65 people representing the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education of Ukraine, higher education institutions, and general secondary education institutions.
Welcome speeches were delivered by BSPU Rector I.T.Bohdanov and Faculty Dean V.I.Zhyhir. Conference participants received with great attention and interest the plenary report by Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine M.I.Shut titled «Destruction of the Physics Teacher Training System in Ukraine: Causes and Consequences». The report emphasized the critical state of modern physics education, the shortage of physics teachers, and the need for consolidated efforts by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, higher and general secondary education institutions, regional and local education authorities to address key problems. The main causes of the crisis include a complex of interconnected factors: anti-motivation toward studying physics, reduction in teaching hours, loss of prestige of the teaching profession, decline in science popularization, and absence of a state support strategy. The main pathways out of this situation should be: preserving physics as a mandatory subject in senior school, considering the National Multi-Subject Test in physics for applicants when entering relevant specialties in higher education institutions, restoring the fundamental nature of university physics education (through revival of physics-mathematics classes, correspondence-residential schools, ensuring innovation-research orientation of the educational process), implementing a system of state support (through financial incentives, social support, and raising the prestige of the teaching profession). The success in solving existing problems in modern physics education directly affects the success of socio-economic transformations in the country, the human resource potential of relevant industries, intellectual and general cultural development of society, and most importantly, Ukraine’s defense capability and essentially its future.
Significant interest among conference participants was generated by the report of Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine O.I.Lyashenko titled «Formation of Digital Culture among Physics and Natural Sciences Teachers», which addressed the importance of future educators acquiring digital competence as a key component of professional competence, its structure and content (digital awareness, digital literacy, digital culture), and methodological aspects of sequential and holistic formation.
Relevant issues of modern natural sciences and technology education development were addressed in reports by: Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Transport at Ternopil National Pedagogical University named after V. Hnatyuk R.M.Horbatyuk («Prospects for the Development of Professional Education in Ukraine under Martial Law»); Head of the Department of Theory and Methods of Technology Education at the Faculty of Technologies and Design of Poltava National Pedagogical University named after V.H. Korolenko A.Yu.Tsyna («Research Work in the System of Training Doctors of Philosophy in the Technology Education Field»); Deputy Director for Scientific Work at the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine M.V.Holovko («Prospects for Forming a Physics Course for Profile Schools»).
In the report by Head of the Department of Physics, Mathematics and Teaching Methods at BSPU O.V.Shkola, conference participants became acquainted with the 18-year history of the scientific conference, which became vivid evidence of how a local initiative can grow into a large-scale scientific project with clear thematic direction, traditions, values, and achievements, and most importantly, with preservation of its leading mission – consolidating efforts of the country’s scientific-pedagogical community in solving current problems of professional training of future teacher-specialists in natural sciences, technology, and computer fields; improving the quality of domestic pedagogical education for the future of our state, for the prosperity of Ukraine.
Based on the results of discussions, a resolution was adopted regarding the urgency of solving current problems in modern education. Conference participants noted its high scientific level, clear organization, friendly professional atmosphere, and expressed their desire to definitely meet offline next time within the walls of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University under the peaceful Ukrainian sky on the shore of the warm Sea of Azov.
