On February 20, the Department of Social, Humanitarian and Educational Work at Berdiansk State Pedagogical University initiated the celebration of Koliada (Masnytsia), a traditional Ukrainian holiday symbolizing the farewell to winter and the welcoming of spring.
The hosts, Karina Vasylieva and Vladyslav Nedilko, opened the event with a presentation about the history of the holiday. Students learned what Koliada is, how it was celebrated by our ancestors, and how it differs from modern Masnytsia. They noted that it was fascinating to immerse themselves in history and discover more about the traditions and their significance.
The festive table brought everyone together in a warm and cozy atmosphere. Students enjoyed fragrant pancakes with various fillings as well as homemade pancakes prepared by the participants themselves.
After the treats, the entertainment program began, featuring competitions that brought participants plenty of positive emotions, laughter, and good cheer. Students actively took part in the activities, supported one another, and created a truly friendly and joyful atmosphere.
The event concluded with a festive lottery, where participants had the opportunity to win prizes, including university-branded merchandise.
Such moments are especially valuable, as they allow students to experience the true emotions of student life, feel support and connection, and create warm memories that stay with us for a long time.
