«Kyiv and residents of Kyiv: in Ukraine’s socio-cultural landscape: the institutional environment»: The Research Institute of Historical Urban Studies co-organised the 15th International Scientific Conference

The Research Institute of Historical Urban Studies, together with Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, the Institute of History of Ukraine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the M. S. Hrushevsky Institute of Ukrainian Archaeography and Source Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Faculty of Historical Sciences at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (Republic of Poland) and Seton Hall University (USA), co-organised the annual scientific conference ‘Kyiv and Kyivans in the Sociocultural Space of Ukraine’, which took place in a hybrid format on 20 May 2023.

In addition to researchers from academic and museum institutions and higher education institutions in Ukraine, the conference’s plenary session and four discussion panels were attended by scholars from Estonia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, the United Kingdom and the USA.

The Department of History and Philosophy at BSPU was represented by presentations from Lyudmyla Zolotar, PhD in History, on «The Role of Transport Hubs in the Urban Space of the Tavria Governorate (Second Half of the 19th – Early 20th Centuries)» and Yurii Fedoryk, PhD in History, on «Orthodox Institutions and the Clergy in the Russification of the Urban Space of Imperial Kholm».
