This week continues the implementation of the internal academic mobility program “Choreographer’s Mastery”, which includes various forms of practical work: classes, workshops, and master classes held in the city of Lviv.

Every day, four classes were conducted by teachers from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University, Berdiansk State Pedagogical University, Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture, and V. G. Korolenko Poltava National Pedagogical University.

Participants of the academic mobility program had the opportunity to develop their performance skills during practical sessions, including:

  • “Development of Physical Abilities through Ballet Gymnastics” — lecturer Nataliia Semenova (Kyiv),
  • “Improvisation. Dialogue” (Improvisation as interaction, contact, role change, and mechanisms of decision-making) — Nataliia Lomakina (Poltava),
  • “Modern Methods of Stylizing Dance Movements in Ballroom Dance (Latin American Program)” — Roksolana Malanchuk (Lviv),
  • “Classical Dance: The System of Warming Up Muscles before the Barre” — Yuliia Bezpalenko (Lviv),
  • “The Practice of Movement Culture in Folklore-Contemporary Plasticity” — Liliia Dovhaniuk (Poltava),
  • “Peculiarities of Performing the Choreographic Vocabulary of Central Ukraine” — Kostiantyn Kaliievskyi (Kyiv),
  • “Peculiarities of Stylization in Ukrainian Folk-Stage Dance and Afro-Jazz” — Vira Synieok (Kyiv),
  • “Improvement of the Classical Dance Exercice through Complication of Combinations” — Nataliia Didyk (Lviv),
  • “Jazz Dance: Integration of Jazz Movement” — Roksolana Mokrii (Lviv),
  • “Choreographic Vocabulary of Street Dance Styles” — Vitalii Dubinin (Lviv),
  • “Basics of Barre Technique” — Mariia Dekan (Poltava),
  • “Preservation and Stylistic Features of Traditional Movements of Prykarpattia” — Yaroslav Sapego (Lviv),
  • “Partnering” — Yaroslava Hrytsenko (Lviv),
  • “Choreography in the Style of Contemporary Dance + Experimental” — Nataliia Lomakina (Poltava).

Associate Professor of the Department of Choreography and Fitness Yuliia Skyba conducted a modern dance workshop titled “From Surface to Depth: Shifting Focus in Movement and Breathing”, while lecturer Dmytro Iljin shared his experience during the master class “Principles of Building Dance Combinations with a Saber”.

The Head of the Department, Associate Professor Yuliia Taranenko, represented Berdiansk State Pedagogical University at the round table “Dialogue”, which brought together delegations of program participants with the Dean, Deputy Deans, Heads of Departments, and academic staff of the Faculty of Culture and Arts at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

Within the framework of the academic mobility program, all participants had the opportunity to attend the plastic transformation performance “Motanka: Threads of Fate” by the plastic theater “Metamorphosis” (Kyiv). The artistic director and stage director is Liudmyla Androshchuk, and one of the performers is Yuliia Taranenko, Associate Professor of BDPU.

Seeing adults in such a magical performance became a true source of inspiration for students who are learning to tell stories through the language of movement.

Currently, BDPU choreography students are in the active phase of preparing their social projects, which they create in collaboration with educational and cultural institutions of Lviv. This is not only a practical application of their knowledge but also a valuable experience of working with children, getting acquainted with new environments, people, styles, and pedagogical approaches.

Thus, participation in the “Choreographer’s Mastery” program is a powerful step toward the professional growth of future specialists, the broadening of their horizons, and the strengthening of unity within the Ukrainian choreographic community.
