The scientific and practical club “Psychology of Procrastination in the Personality of a Psychology Student,” operating at the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of PPOM under the supervision of Associate Professor Nataliia Serdiuk, has become a center of scientific inquiry and practical experience for psychology students.
Within the framework of the Science Festival 2026, another meeting of the club was held on the topic: “The Cognitive Architecture of Delay: How the Psychologist’s Brain Deceives Itself.” The purpose of the meeting was to investigate the cognitive mechanisms of procrastination, analyze common planning errors, and practice operational activity-structuring techniques for students.
During the meeting, students carried out a diagnosis of their own irrational beliefs (perfectionism, catastrophizing, and overestimation of future motivation) that hinder the initiation of academic tasks. The exercise “Audit of Cognitive Errors” contributed to developing skills in reframing automatic thoughts into constructive attitudes.
As part of the practical block, participants worked on the method of reverse decomposition: students acquired skills in breaking down complex academic tasks into micro-operations, which helps reduce the level of “cognitive block” and optimize the functioning of cognitive processes.
This form of organizing students’ research activities is an effective and essential means of developing research competencies, creating a favorable environment for the formation and professional growth of future specialists.
