Open data – new opportunities: scientific initiative of the BSPU

Do you have cool skills or ideas in the field of visualization? Then this is definitely for you!

Berdyansk State Pedagogical University invites you to participate in the OpenData VizLab citizen science initiative .

OpenData VizLab is a project whose goal is to create an open library of data visualization examples for use in education, social research, and community development.

Who can join: teachers, students and anyone interested.

How to do it? The organizers are guided by the following sequence:

1. Create a data set that will serve as the content basis for your work. This can be your own observations or information from open sources, such as the data.gov.ua portal . The topics are unlimited;
2. Create a vivid visualization and add a short description to it using any software (Python, R, Excel, etc.). The format is acceptable as a graph, chart or map in .png, .jpg, .svg., pdf formats. And the description should explain what exactly you showed and why it is important. Also include a link to the dataset you used;
3. Send your work in one of the convenient ways:
   – to the e-mail naukabdpu@gmail.com ;
   – via the link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1I1fRXkFIQ3fKZdPXn_-GgDoKrBAxDI8eZ_LQx3qpn3k/edit ;
   – to the GitHub OpenData VizLab repository https://github.com/Berdyansk-State-Pedagogical-University/OpenData-VizLab/tree/main .

All works after verification will become part of an open library of examples – a resource for everyone who works with data: teachers, students, journalists, librarians, researchers, IT specialists and local governments.

The most interesting works will be put to an open vote on the BSPU social networks and the winning authors will receive certificates from the organizers.

The number of works from one author or from co-authors is unlimited, wait for updates on the submission deadlines on the official web sites of the BSPU.
