On 20 February 2026, faculty members of the Department of Economics, Management and Finance of Berdiansk State Pedagogical University participated in the international webinar “Building Capacity in the Ukrainian R&I Ecosystem: Open Science Policies and Practices of Research Funding Organisations”.

The event was organised by the National Research Foundation of Ukraine in cooperation with Science Europe as part of a joint webinar series aimed at supporting the Ukrainian scientific community and strengthening the capacity of the national research and innovation ecosystem in the context of post-war recovery. The initiative seeks to enhance the institutional and project management capacities of Ukrainian researchers, expand their participation in international research programmes, and foster professional dialogue with European colleagues.

During the webinar, contemporary approaches to the development and implementation of Open Science policies were discussed, including ensuring open access to research results, research data management, adherence to the principles of transparency and accountability in grant funding processes, and the evaluation criteria for research projects in line with European standards.

Particular attention was paid to the role of research funding organisations in implementing Open Science policies, harmonising national practices with European regulatory approaches, and establishing effective support mechanisms for researchers within the framework of Ukraine’s integration into the European Research Area.

The participation of the Department’s faculty members in the webinar contributes to strengthening the University’s institutional capacity in research project management, implementing Open Science principles in teaching and research activities, and expanding opportunities for international cooperation and participation in European grant programmes. The analytical materials and practical recommendations obtained during the event will be used to improve the preparation of project proposals and to further develop the scientific potential of the Department.
