Modern global challenges related to crisis phenomena, security threats, and the instability of socio-economic processes have led to increased attention to risk management issues in the tourism and hospitality industry. In this context, international academic exchange and the involvement of academic staff in professional educational events are of particular importance.
On January 15, 2026, faculty members of the Department of Economics, Management and Finance of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University – Kateryna Lemish, Tetiana Nestorenko, Olena Tokarenko, and Viktoriia Shvachko – took part in the international webinar “Risk Management in Tourism and Hospitality Industry in Relation to Crisis Management”, dedicated to contemporary approaches to risk management and crisis management in the tourism and hotel and restaurant sectors.
The speakers of the webinar were Prof. JUDr. Ludmila Novacká, Ph.D., Professor at the University of South Bohemia (Czech Republic), an expert in tourism destination management and international project implementation, and Dipl. Eng. Matěj Pejsar, a researcher and lecturer specializing in tourism destination development and strategic planning (Czech Republic). The event was organized with the support of La Fondation pour la Formation Hôtelière (Switzerland) in cooperation with Odesa National Technological University (Department of Hotel and Restaurant Business).
The webinar program included an analysis of the concepts of crisis, threats, and risks in the tourism and hospitality sector; consideration of the specifics of risk management in tourism destinations and the hotel business; and the features of risk management in the organization of event activities based on practical case studies.
Participation of BSPU faculty members in the international webinar contributed to the enhancement of professional competencies in risk and crisis management, familiarization with European experience in tourism destination management, and the integration of practice-oriented approaches into the training of specialists in economics, management, tourism, and hotel and restaurant business.
The acquired knowledge and analytical materials can be used in the educational process, research activities, and the development of academic courses aimed at forming sustainable management decisions under crisis challenges.
