Teachers at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities pay considerable attention to interaction with stakeholders. Educators from general secondary education institutions are essential partners for the teaching staff of the A4 ‘Secondary Education (by Subject Specialisation)’ programme. In addition to monitoring and reviewing educational programmes through surveys and webinars with stakeholders, formal and informal meetings throughout the year play an important role.

This was the case with the welcoming meeting of participants in the educational process at the Harmonia Gymnasium, sponsored by the Berdiansk City Council in the Zaporizhzhia region. During the meeting with the director, Nataliia Danylova, the Ukrainian language and literature teacher, Zoiia Vovchok, and the foreign literature teacher, Oleg Balaban, they talked about the issues that students of the following specialities face:

  • A4 Secondary education (Ukrainian language and literature);
  • A4 Secondary Education (Language and Foreign Literature (English));
  • B11 Philology (Germanic Languages and Literatures (including translation), first – English).

The conversation about joint activities in the context of resilient practices, which are being developed by teachers of the Department of Ukrainian and Foreign Literature and Comparative Literary Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, was fruitful. It was essential to gather the opinions of practitioners on the proposed elective disciplines designed to develop stress-resistance skills in schoolchildren and students.

In particular, they discussed the possibilities of bibliotherapy, theatre therapy, studying comics, as well as the use of training methods in improvisation, acting skills and leadership.

During the meeting, teachers had the opportunity to talk to schoolchildren and learn about the conditions of studying in a frontline city during the war. It is essential to note that children study in warm, well-lit rooms that feature areas for both learning and recreation.

At the end of the meeting, Marina Bogdanova, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, signed a renewed cooperation agreement with Natalia Danilova, Director of the Harmonia Gymnasium.
