On December 23, 2025, as part of career guidance activities with school students from the Zaporizhzhia region, the Department of History and Philosophy at Berdiansk State Pedagogical University, with the participation of the Dean of the Faculty and the Deputy Dean for Educational Work, held a cultural and educational event titled “The Diversity of Christmas Traditions in the Zaporizhzhia Region.” The event was aimed at fostering a conscious interest among young people in educational programs in the social and humanitarian fields.

The purpose of the event was not only to familiarize participants with the regional Christmas traditions of the Zaporizhzhia region but also to demonstrate opportunities for professional realization in the fields of historical, social-humanitarian, and cultural studies. Participants were shown how knowledge in history, ethnography, and religious studies can be applied in educational, scientific, cultural-artistic, and outreach activities.

During the event, the specifics of the formation of Christmas rituals in the region were highlighted in the context of historical processes, ethno-confessional interactions, and the cultural diversity of the Zaporizhzhia region. This approach allowed participants to see history not as an abstract discipline but as a living tool for analyzing social processes, directly linked to modern professions.

Special attention was given to presenting educational trajectories available to applicants interested in studying specialties at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. In an open dialogue format, prospects for studies, academic mobility, participation in research projects, and future employment opportunities for graduates were discussed.

The event demonstrated that combining regional history, traditional culture, and modern educational practices is an effective tool for career guidance. Such initiatives contribute to shaping young people’s conscious choice of future profession, developing critical thinking, and fostering interest in preserving and researching Ukraine’s cultural heritage.
