On January 27, 2026, students of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University took part in an intensive first aid training session conducted by the international organization UK-MED with the support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund.
In the context of today’s challenges, such knowledge is critically important; therefore, the training program was highly intensive and strongly practice-oriented. The training began with hands-on practice in applying a tourniquet, both for self-aid and for assisting others. Participants thoroughly reviewed algorithms for ensuring personal safety while providing aid, methods for controlling massive bleeding, as well as measures to restore airway patency, support breathing, and maintain blood circulation. Special attention was paid to the prevention and management of hypothermia, which is a decisive factor in the survival of casualties.
In addition to the theoretical component, each participant had the opportunity to practice cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), master the principles of using a defibrillator, and learn how to properly operate modern medical equipment. Thanks to the professionalism of UK-MED instructors, BSPU students and faculty gained not only valuable knowledge but also confidence in their own abilities—confidence that can be crucial in saving a human life.
We are sincerely grateful to UK-MED for the valuable knowledge provided and highly appreciate the opportunity to enhance the level of safety within our university community, as well as the professionalism of the instructors who were able to clearly and effectively convey complex medical algorithms. The knowledge gained is a real, practical tool for saving lives.
We look forward to further fruitful cooperation aimed at strengthening the resilience and safety of Ukrainian youth.
