On March 24, 2026, a guest online lecture titled «Social and Emotional Learning as a Tool for Developing Transversal Skills of Students in the New Ukrainian School» was held at the Faculty of Psychological, Pedagogical Education and Arts of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University.

The speaker of the event was Nataliia Kushnir – Acting Head of the Department of Psychological Health and Personality Development, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences (PhD in Education), and Senior Lecturer at Volodymyr Vynnychenko Central Ukrainian State University.

During the lecture, the essence of social and emotional learning was explored as an important component of the modern educational process. Particular attention was paid to the development of emotional intelligence, cooperation skills, self-regulation abilities, and responsible decision-making as the foundation for forming students’ transversal skills.

Special emphasis was placed on the role of the teacher as a facilitator of the emotional development of primary school students, who creates a safe, supportive, and motivating educational environment conducive to learners’ personal growth.

The event contributed to a deeper understanding of the importance of social and emotional learning in the context of implementing the ideas of the New Ukrainian School and outlined practical guidelines for integrating these approaches into teaching practice.

Overall, the guest lecture became an effective platform for professional dialogue, exchange of experience, and rethinking the role of a modern teacher in the context of educational transformations, highlighting the importance of a harmonious combination of academic and emotional development of the individual.
