On April 28, 2026, a regular meeting of the scientific club “Current Issues of Economics and Finance” was held, bringing together students of the educational and professional programs “Finance, Banking and Insurance” and “Business Economics” around the relevant topic: “Sustainable Territorial Development in Modern Scientific Research.” The event was moderated by PhD in Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics, Management and Finance, H. Kostenko, who emphasized the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to studying sustainable development and its role in the context of modern socio-economic transformations.

During the meeting, participants discussed key issues shaping the modern understanding of sustainable territorial development. In particular, the main dimensions of sustainable development – economic, social, and environmental – were considered, with emphasis on the need for their balanced integration. Special attention was paid to the regulatory and legal framework for sustainable development in Ukraine, taking into account decentralization processes and the adaptation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

A lively discussion focused on the financial support of territorial development. Participants analyzed financial potential as a catalyst for economic growth, as well as its components – budgetary capacity of territories, financial capacity of business entities, and households. It was emphasized that effective financial management is a key condition for increasing the investment attractiveness of regions and ensuring their sustainable development.

Particular attention was given to the role of territorial communities in implementing sustainable development principles, especially in the context of local self-government reform and current challenges related to the recovery of Ukraine’s regions.

Such events are important for the educational process and the development of professional competencies of students enrolled in the educational programs “Finance, Banking and Insurance” and “Business Economics”. Participation of students in the meeting contributes to deepening their knowledge of financial resource management, fiscal decentralization, and territorial budgeting, as well as fostering an understanding of the role of business in territorial development and developing skills in analyzing the interaction between business, government, and society.
