The beginning of the 2025–2026 academic year at the Faculty of Psychological and Pedagogical Education and Arts was marked by the launch of the research and practice group “The Culture of Tolerance as a Component of Professional Training for Higher Education Students” for undergraduate and graduate students (headed by Karina Koval, Assistant of the Department of Pedagogy).

For the group members, this semester was intensive and productive, involving the consistent study of several thematic modules, participation in scientific events, and the synthesis of practical findings.

September was dedicated to the topic “Tolerance as a Social and Pedagogical Value in the 21st Century.” During the sessions, members analyzed modern approaches to defining tolerance, its conceptual components, and key principles of tolerant communication. Special focus was placed on the connection between tolerance, academic culture, professional ethics, and the humanistic foundations of education.

In October, the group’s work continued under the theme “An Educational Environment Without Prejudice: Fostering Tolerance in Students in Today’s Context.” Participants discussed the manifestations of prejudice and stereotypes in daily educational practice, examined typical discriminatory situations, and outlined pedagogical strategies that contribute to forming a safe and welcoming environment.

November became a period of scientific activity. Supported by the Department of Primary Education, group members joined the All-Ukrainian Research and Practice Conference “New Pedagogical Dimensions of Professional Development for Future Teachers: Modern Realities and Challenges,” presenting their findings in the form of conference abstracts. This participation facilitated the development of academic writing skills, scientific argumentation, and the presentation of research results within the professional community.

In December, the research group focused on “The Teacher’s Role as a Facilitator of Tolerant Relationships in Educational Institutions.” Participants summarized the key conclusions of the semester’s work, identified practical tools for supporting tolerant interaction in student groups, and focused on the professional stance of the educator as a dialogue moderator, a mediator in conflict resolution, and a bearer of value orientations.

The group’s work throughout the first semester proved that the systematic combination of theoretical analysis, practical exercises, and participation in scientific events at the faculty, university, and other higher education institutions is an effective tool for fostering tolerance as a vital component of the professional training of higher education students.
