On October 1, shortly after the celebration of the birthday of the outstanding Ukrainian humanist pedagogue Vasyl Oleksandrovych Sukhomlynskyi (September 28), first-year students of the Faculty of Psychological and Pedagogical Education and Arts, specializing in Primary Education, who are studying the educational component “Introduction to the Specialty” (lecturer – Associate Professor of the Department of Pedagogy, Nadiia Shcherbakova), took part in a class that had both symbolic and educational significance.
The event began with a moment of silence to honor the memory of those who gave their lives for the Homeland. Afterwards, the students’ attention was focused on the figure of Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi and his multifaceted pedagogical heritage, as he devoted his life to shaping a spiritually rich, humane, and civically responsible personality.
During the session, first-year students watched a video about the life and work of the humanist pedagogue, worked with pages from his book “One Hundred Pieces of Advice for a Teacher”, engaged in discussions, and shared their own views on the relevance of Sukhomlynskyi’s pedagogical ideas today. Through interactive learning methods (in particular, using a Padlet board), students reflected on what qualities a modern teacher should embody – a person of high culture, moral resilience, humanism, and patriotism.
Thus, the class was not only an introduction to the spiritual and scientific-pedagogical heritage of Vasyl Oleksandrovych, but also a reflection on the interrelation between a teacher’s professional activity, civic responsibility, and love for Ukraine.
