As part of Pedagogy Week, first-level (bachelor’s) students of groups 31PO and s23PO from the Faculty of Psychological and Pedagogical Education and Arts held an online thematic meeting entitled “Unbroken Heritage: Women’s Voices That Strengthen the Nation” (moderator – Nadiia Shcherbakova, PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor at the Department of Pedagogy).

The event became a genuine combination of history, modernity, and inspiration. Under the guidance of their lecturer from the Department of Pedagogy, students explored and creatively presented the lives and contributions of three outstanding women whose work shaped the spiritual and educational foundation of the Ukrainian nation – Lesia Ukrainka, Sofiia Rusova, and Khrystyna Alchevska.

In their presentations, the participants skillfully combined scholarly depth with emotional insight. They prepared multimedia projects, historical references, excerpts from letters, and quotations that revealed the pedagogical ideas of each figure within the context of her time.

Lesia Ukrainka emerged as a pedagogue of the spirit, who educated through the power of the word and personal example. Khrystyna Alchevska was portrayed as the creator of the pedagogy of humanity and a pioneer of accessible education for all. Sofiia Rusova appeared as a reformer who laid the foundations of national upbringing and humanistic education.

Students drew insightful parallels between the legacy of these prominent educators and the principles of the New Ukrainian School, demonstrating that the ideas of humanism, partnership, and moral resilience have always been and remain the enduring values of Ukrainian education.

A dynamic highlight of the meeting was the interactive activity “Voices of the Past – Roles of the Present,” during which participants reflected on how the ideas of these great women are embodied in the modern roles of the teacher – tutor, facilitator, and mentor.

The online format did not diminish the emotional atmosphere: video fragments and discussions created a warm sense of professional unity, pride in Ukrainian education, and inspiration for personal pedagogical growth.

Such meetings once again prove that even in a virtual environment, it is possible to create a true space for spiritual development and professional reflection. The future educators reaffirmed their mission – to carry the light of knowledge, humanity, and resilience.
