As part of the study of the educational component “Fostering Independence in Preschool Children through Maria Montessori’s Pedagogy”, two publications have been released: the monograph “Educating Preschool Children through Montessori Pedagogy: Small Steps toward Great Independence” and methodological recommendations for higher education students “Fostering Independence in Preschool Children through M. Montessori’s Pedagogy”.
The authorship of the course and the new publications, which reveal the specifics of applying the Montessori method in the context of modern preschool education, belongs to Nataliia Hryhorieva, PhD in Philosophy, Associate Professor of the Department of Preschool Education at Berdiansk State Pedagogical University.
This discipline has the status of an elective, which demonstrates the steady interest of future educators in the method of the renowned Italian humanist, as well as its practical significance and scientific-pedagogical relevance. It equips students not only with Montessori’s methodological tools but also with the ability to creatively apply them in fostering independence, self-reliance, initiative, and responsibility in preschoolers.
It is particularly symbolic that the publications were released in a jubilee year: on August 31, 2025, the global Montessori community celebrated the 155th anniversary of Maria Montessori’s birth. This once again emphasizes the timelessness of her ideas, their influence on modern preschool education, and the enduring interest in the legacy of the educator who transformed the perception of childhood.
