October 1 is a special date for all Ukrainians. On this day, we honor those who defend our state, its territorial integrity, dignity, and independence. Defenders of Ukraine Day is symbolically combined with Ukrainian Cossack Day and the Feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God, who has long been considered the patroness of Ukrainian warriors.

On this occasion, the Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports, and Human Health held an educational event dedicated to the glorious pages of Ukrainian Cossack history and today’s heroes. The aim of the event was not only to honor the courage and heroism of Ukraine’s defenders but also to remind everyone of the deep historical roots of national dignity, unbreakable spirit, and love for the homeland. The event was moderated by Nataliya Kryvun, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Choreography and Fitness, and Deputy Dean for Educational Work at the Faculty.

The event was attended by faculty members and students of both full-time and part-time study programs.

As part of the event, members of the “MarLen” dance lab presented their creative project dedicated to Defenders of Ukraine Day. The project, which combined choreographic art with a deep patriotic message, was initiated and implemented under the guidance of Yuliia Taranenko, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, and Head of the Department of Choreography and Fitness. The dance performance became the emotional climax of the event—evoking sincere emotions and deep reflection from all attendees. Through the language of movement, the ensemble’s participants conveyed a story of struggle, strength of spirit, and hope.

The program also included student presentations on thematic topics, video screenings dedicated to modern heroes, and a moment of silence in memory of those who have fallen.

At the end of the event, Lyudmyla Konovalska, Deputy Dean for Academic and Methodological Work, greeted everyone and emphasized the importance of unity and courage, respect for history, Ukraine’s defenders, and our national identity.
