On February 11, 2026, students of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University participated in the online workshop ‘Empowering Learners Through Media Literacy Cases.’ The event was led by Yuliia Khomiakova, an English teacher at Kharkiv Academic Lyceum No. 45, a teacher of the highest category, teacher-methodologist, and winner of the city competition ‘Teacher of the Year 2026.’
The workshop brought together Bachelor’s degree students from the educational programs ‘Secondary Education (English Language and Literature)’ and ‘Philology (Germanic Languages and Literatures (Translation Included), First – English, Second – German),’ as well as Master’s degree students from the program ‘Secondary Education (Language and Literature (English)).’
The workshop was held in an engaging and positive atmosphere. Participants had the opportunity to explore current media challenges that today’s students face: disinformation, filter bubbles, deepfakes, stereotypes, clickbait headlines, viral trends, AI-generated content, influencer marketing, and cyberbullying.
The lively interaction with students and the interactive format of the event created a space for exchanging ideas and collaboratively exploring ways to develop media literacy in modern education.
