May 1, on 13:00, the university hosted an online lecture dedicated to the current issues of imagology, an interdisciplinary field of humanitarian knowledge that studies images of the “other” in culture and literature. The event brought together teachers and students interested in the problems of intercultural communication, national identity, and stereotypes.
The presentation examined the origins of imagology, in particular the intellectual prerequisites for its formation in the works of European thinkers of the early modern period. Particular attention was paid to the development of this discipline in the 20th century, when researchers focused on the analysis of the relationship between cultures and literatures, as well as on the mechanisms of forming ideas about “others”.
Natalia Gorbach emphasized that imagology today plays an important role in the study of cultural diversity, helps overcome stereotypical thinking, and deepens understanding of international dialogue. The participants of the event had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the prospects for the application of imagological approaches in modern humanitarian research.
The event became an important platform for scientific exchange and once again confirmed the interest of the university community in the development of interdisciplinary research.
