May 12, 2025 became the Day of student science at Berdyansk State Pedagogical University within the framework of the already traditional Science Festival. This year, students majoring in choreography not only joined the celebration but also became the initiators of a series of vibrant scientific and practical events.
The program of the day was intensive and covered three strategic areas: from academic discussions to international perspectives and futuristic forecasts.
The meeting of the scientific section “Current Issues of Choreographic Art” (specialties 024 Choreography / B6 Performing Arts and 014 Secondary Education (Choreography)) was held this year in an unconventional format. Fourth-year students acted not only as presenters but also as members of the expert committee during the preliminary defense of course projects in the educational component “The Art of Ballet Mastery” presented by second-year students. Under the moderation of PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Yuliia Taranenko and Senior Lecturer Natali Kryvun, an incredible intellectual atmosphere prevailed: lively discussions and Q&A panels demonstrated the high level of critical thinking of future artists. For the best presentation, student Oleksandra Bartoshevych received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Rector of BSPU, Professor Ihor Bohdanov.
At the end of the meeting, third-year bachelor’s degree student Valeriia Mordvinova was congratulated on winning third place in the second stage of the Third All-Ukrainian Research Paper Competition for higher education students in the field of knowledge 02 Culture and Arts, specialty 024 Choreography / B Culture, Arts and Humanities, specialty: B6 Performing Arts, specialization: B6.03 Choreographic Art in the 2025/2026 academic year, held at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. She was also awarded a Certificate from the Rector of BSPU, Professor Ihor Bohdanov.
A special interest was generated by the event dedicated to participation in international dance projects. Students Khrystyna Omelchenko (4th year) and Mariia Rozhnova (3rd year) shared their success stories. The girls not only inspired the audience with their own examples but also provided a practical case study on where to search for grant opportunities and how to independently initiate creative projects at BSPU.
The eventful day concluded with a creative “World Café” discussion titled “Choreography and Artificial Intelligence.” The moderator was Oleksandra Bartoshevych, second-year student and Head of the Student Council of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Health. Participants discussed the challenges and opportunities that AI brings to contemporary art, seeking a balance between technology and the living emotion of dance.
Thus, the Day of Student Science once again proved that the modern choreographer is not only a master of movement but also a profound researcher open to innovation and international cooperation. Art and science within the walls of BSPU move in the same rhythm!
