On 9 October 2026, an online meeting entitled “Fair Play in Education and Sport: Academic Integrity and AI” was held for students of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Human Health at Berdyansk State Pedagogical University (BDPU). The event brought together first- and second-year students enrolled in educational programmes in specialty A7 “Physical Culture and Sport”, as well as students enrolled in the faculty’s master’s degree programmes.

The session was delivered by representatives of the BDPU Library: Halyna Potapenko, Senior Librarian, and Iryna Filon, Head of the Reader Services Department.

The participants explored the principles of academic integrity, independent completion of assignments, proper citation and respect for authorship. They also discussed how these principles relate to the core values of fair play in sport: fairness, responsibility, respect for rules and recognition of others’ work.

Special attention was given to the use of artificial intelligence tools in learning and research. The discussion highlighted the importance of verifying AI-generated information, consulting reliable sources, avoiding the replacement of original intellectual work with automatically generated text, and following institutional requirements for AI use.

The participants also discussed the Law of Ukraine “On Academic Integrity” and the role of legal and ethical principles in education and research. The meeting offered an opportunity to strengthen digital literacy, critical thinking and personal responsibility for learning outcomes.

The Department of Physical Culture, Sport and Teaching Methods sincerely thanks Halyna Potapenko and Iryna Filon for an informative session and for contributing to a culture of academic integrity among future physical education and sport professionals.
