On November 5, Associate Professor of the Department of Primary Education at Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, Maryna Nesterenko, conducted two offline workshops for teachers in the city of Dnipro on the topic: “STEM Education and Robotics: Points of Intersection.
The event was initiated and hosted by BSPU alumnae Vladyslava Tyumina and Ilona Sacksonik, who are currently active in the field of education. The workshops were held at two locations: Lyceum No. 72 in Dnipro and the Municipal Institution “Center for Professional Development of Pedagogical Staff ‘Educational Trajectory’” of the Dnipro City Council.
During the workshops, participants discussed current challenges and future prospects of implementing STEM education in Ukraine, explored modern STEM teaching methods for primary and lower secondary school, worked with educational robotics kits, and tested virtual reality headsets.
The event had several important focuses. Firstly, it was part of the dissemination of results from a fundamental scientific research project (project №0123U105357) titled “An Integrated Approach to the Professional Training of STEM-Oriented Educators: Synergy of High-Tech and Digital Technologies.” Secondly, it included a strong practical component, during which teachers completed real tasks such as creating robotic models, programming, and planning STEM-based lesson topics. Thirdly, an essential part of the event was career guidance – presenting BSPU’s educational opportunities for the professional growth of teachers and future educators.
Such meetings are extremely valuable for enhancing teachers’ professional competencies, as they bring together scientific, methodological, and technological expertise into a single, practical space.
And once again, the participants were convinced that Berdyansk State Pedagogical University is a space for those who strive to stay at the forefront of innovation, trains competitive professionals, and actively shares knowledge beyond the walls of its “university without borders.”
