On October 5, 2025, students and faculty members of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University actively participated in a large-scale community cleanup event held in the Park of Honor on Khortytsia Island in the city of Zaporizhzhia.
The event brought together concerned local residents, students, creative groups, and members of the public with a common goal — to make this unique natural and historical gem of Ukraine cleaner and more attractive.
Berdyansk State Pedagogical University was represented by the Deputy Dean for Educational Work of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Health (FPCSH) and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Choreography and Fitness, Nataliya Kryvun, along with university faculty and students: Vladyslav Nedilko and Kyrylo Bez (Faculty of Physical and Mathematical and Technological Education – FPMTE), Bohdana Kolchiyenko and Viktoriia Makarenko (Faculty of Preschool, Primary and Special Education – FPPSE), Valeriia Mordvinova and Kateryna Hrudiienko (FPCSH), and Olha Kuts and Karina Vasylieva (Social and Humanitarian Faculty – SHF).
Participants cleaned up the park area, tidied up the alleys, and collected litter. This initiative not only contributes to improving the environmental condition of the area but also fosters a sense of responsibility among young people towards the environment and cultural heritage.
In addition to the environmental aspect, the event featured a rich cultural and artistic program. An open-air sculpture exhibition was presented in the park, which captivated visitors with its beauty and meaning. A theatrical performance was also held by the theatrical platform “Actor’s House,” bringing the audience a wealth of emotions, inspiration, and positive energy.
Another engaging part of the event was the series of masterclasses conducted by folk artists, who showcased traditional crafts, introduced participants to Ukrainian cultural traditions, and gave them the opportunity to create unique handmade items.
Participation in such events plays an important role in shaping active civic engagement among students. We are grateful to every student and faculty member who joined this initiative and contributed to preserving and enriching the cultural space of our country.
