From Berdiansk to Ukraine’s Football Arenas: Oleksandr Lykholat’s Journey

Among the first-year students of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University are young athletes who already have considerable sporting experience. One of them is Oleksandr Lykholat, a native of Berdiansk who has been playing football since the age of six.

Oleksandr began his football journey at Berdiansk Youth Sports School. At the age of 13, he continued his training with Metalurh Zaporizhzhia, where he competed in national youth tournaments. Later, he represented the Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih Football Academy.

One of his memorable achievements was a tournament in Cherkasy in February 2026, where his team won first place.

Today, Oleksandr continues his sporting career with Skala 1911 Football Academy in Stryi. In August 2026, he scored a goal in a Lviv Region Championship match, and in September his team began competing in the U19 Ukrainian Championship 2026/2027.

Despite the forced relocation of the university, Oleksandr chose Berdyansk State Pedagogical University — the university of his hometown — to pursue his higher education.
