On May 14, 2026, a master class titled “How to Create an Effective Lesson Plan for Ukrainian Language and Literature: From Theory to Practice” was held for students in the A4 Secondary Education (Ukrainian Language and Literature) program at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The event was led by Iryna Anatoliivna Shvachko—a senior-level teacher and instructional specialist at the Berdiansk “Suzirya” Lyceum of the Berdiansk City Council—an experienced practitioner with many years of teaching and instructional work.

The goal of the master class was to develop practical skills for creating a modern, logically structured, and effective lesson plan that meets the requirements of the New Ukrainian School.

During the theoretical portion, participants examined key aspects of lesson planning: the structure of a lesson plan, the proper formulation of the topic and objectives, the organization of lesson stages—from motivation to reflection—as well as the selection of appropriate teaching methods and techniques. Special attention was given to common methodological mistakes and ways to avoid them.

The central and most intensive part of the event was the practical work: participants analyzed ready-made lesson plans, edited weak points, and independently created their own mini-lesson plans. This approach allowed them to practice their skills directly in the course of their work, rather than merely learning the theory.

Iryna Anatoliivna introduced the participants to the “Formula for a Good Lesson”:

Motivation → Goal → Action → Reflection → Result.

In addition, participants received practical advice on how to make a lesson “lively” and unconventional, engage students from the very first minutes, maintain the logical coherence of the class, and learn to write lesson plans that are concise yet substantive.

The workshop received positive feedback from participants and proved to be a valuable experience for future language arts teachers preparing for their independent teaching careers.
