On February 27, 2026, an essential online meeting titled “Mine Threat” was held for the faculty and students of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, focusing on safe behavior rules during wartime. The keynote speaker was Mykhailo Shavlis, a representative of the international humanitarian organization “The HALO Trust,” the world’s largest mine clearance operator, which has been active in Ukraine since 2016. During the “Stop Mines: Life Without Risk” training session, participants examined current regional threats in detail, familiarized themselves with various types of explosive objects, and learned to identify signs of hazardous areas.
The lecturer paid particular attention to action protocols when encountering suspicious objects, emphasizing compliance with international mine action standards. As “The HALO Trust” is involved not only in public education but also in direct demining operations, the audience received comprehensive and practical advice to help save lives and maintain health in crisis situations.
This event was a significant contribution to fostering a safety culture within the BDSPU academic community, which remains a top priority under current challenging circumstances.
