On 26 March 2026, the Department of Foreign Languages and Teaching Methods of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University hosted a practical seminar entitled ‘Assessment for Learning’.

The seminar was prepared and delivered by Natalia Borysova — a senior methodologist teacher of the highest category at Berdyansk Gymnasium No. 11 and a participant in the international in-service training programme for French language teachers ‘Cavilam’ (Vichy, France).

During the seminar, participants explored contemporary approaches to assessment in the educational process, with a particular focus on its role as a tool for supporting learning rather than merely a means of control. Special attention was paid to working with errors as a key stage in learners’ development, fostering motivation, and creating a fair and transparent educational environment.

Students and faculty members had the opportunity to become acquainted with effective assessment techniques, practical methods for analysing errors, and ways of using them constructively in the learning process.

The seminar took place in an engaging and friendly atmosphere and became an important step towards the understanding that assessment can be a powerful tool for development, and that errors are an integral part of successful learning.
