On January 24, 2026, the 3rd stage of the International Petro Yatsyk Ukrainian Language Competition took place – one of the most prestigious intellectual competitions that unites philologically gifted youth from all over Ukraine.

The International Petro Yatsyk Ukrainian Language Competition is held in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated November 9, 2007. The purpose of the competition is to raise the prestige of the Ukrainian language, ensure its comprehensive development and functioning in all spheres of public life.

Berdyansk State Pedagogical University was represented at a high level by talented students: Danylo Zubov (4th year student) and Alina Kuchynska (1st year student), who took 3rd place!

The winner of the competition, Alina Kuchynska, noted: “Participation in the Petro Yatsyk Ukrainian Language Competition is a great opportunity for me to participate in the competition. Petra Jacyk gave me unforgettable emotions, because this is my first experience in competitions of this kind. The tasks were a complete surprise – they were quite complex and unexpected, which forced me to instantly turn on my creativity and go beyond the usual training. Of course, the long road and busy day were exhausting… The underground school where the competition was held was incredible, this place impressed me to the core! Despite the fatigue, I am very glad that I had the opportunity to take part in the competition and see with my own eyes how a space for learning is created even in our time”

Participation in such an event is not only a test of knowledge of grammar and stylistics, but also a test of the ability to think creatively and express one’s civic position. The competition tasks required participants to have a deep understanding of linguistic nuances and the ability to work with non-standard texts.

The university administration and the teaching community express their sincere gratitude to Danylo and Alina for a worthy representation of our educational institution. We are proud of your successes and believe that you have many more victories ahead in the linguistic and literary field!
