On 9 May, Ukraine and the countries of the European Union celebrate Europe Day – a holiday of unity, shared values, democracy and international cooperation. In the current circumstances, this day holds particular significance for Ukraine, which is steadfastly affirming its European choice and deepening its engagement with the European community.
On this occasion, faculty members and students of the Faculty of Psychological, Pedagogical Education and Arts of Berdiansk State Pedagogical University joined the nationwide online event “Ukraine – EU: The Parliamentary Dimension”, organised by the Educational Centre of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in partnership with the Permanent Representation of the European Parliament in Kyiv.
During the session, attendees had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the EU’s activities, the specifics of its parliamentary cooperation with Ukraine, and the role of European values in contemporary society. Particular focus was placed on questions of unity, responsibility, support for Ukraine, and the importance of international partnership in the face of today’s challenges.
This year’s programme proved especially enriching thanks to the participation of invited guests and exclusive video addresses from representatives of the European Parliament, which allowed attendees to experience the atmosphere of the European political space and witness international dialogue firsthand.
The programme concluded with a thematic quiz on the history, values and work of the EU – serving not only as an interactive finale, but also as an opportunity for participants to test their knowledge of European integration.
Engagement in such initiatives contributes to the development of civic awareness among young people, the cultivation of political and legal culture, and the affirmation of democratic values – all of which are essential components of the professional training of future specialists in the fields of education and psychology.
