Berdyansk State Pedagogical University officially expanded its international cooperation by signing a memorandum with the Australian educational platform Future Campus.

Future Campus is one of the largest specialized media outlets in Australia.

The event was a logical continuation of the participation of the Ukrainian delegation in the “Universities Without Walls” symposium, which took place in March 2026 in Australia and brought together representatives of the country’s leading universities.

This event became a key platform for a dialogue on the transformation of Ukrainian education in times of war. The central topic of discussion was the experience of BSPU as a “university without walls” – an institution that was able to preserve the educational process, scientific activity and academic community despite the loss of physical infrastructure. The participants of the event considered not only the organizational aspects of the functioning of such an institution, but also broader aspects: from student engagement to faculty well-being and the effectiveness of blended learning.

The signing of the memorandum between BSPU and Future Campus took place in this context, as a result of a mutual interest in exchanging experiences and developing international educational partnerships. Future Campus Director Tim Winkler emphasized the uniqueness of this event, noting: “This is the first partnership that Future Campus has established outside the shores of Australia, and it underlines the importance we attach to exchanging experiences in an international context”.

He also emphasized the uniqueness of the Ukrainian university’s experience, emphasizing that BSPU staff “have achieved extraordinary results despite being displaced due to Russian occupation”, and the model of combining online and offline education is “a really interesting – and, apparently, effective – approach to providing education”. At the same time, the media head warned against over-romanticizing this experience, emphasizing the need for a deep analysis of losses and challenges, in particular in the areas of student engagement, the psychological state of staff, and research productivity.

For BSPU, this opens up new opportunities for integration into the global educational space, and for the Australian side, access to the unique experience of a university operating in wartime.
