On October 23, at the Department of Pedagogy of the Faculty of Psychological and Pedagogical Education and Arts, “Pedagogy Week” came to a close on an inspiring and meaningful note with an open guest lecture on the topic “Formation of Media Pedagogical Competence of Future Primary School Teachers.”

The speaker of the final meeting was Olena Ishutina, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Theory and Practice of Primary Education at the “Donbas State Pedagogical University,” who brought together students and teachers in an online space around the current demands of the teaching profession.

The conversation began with an analysis of educational transformations and regulatory guidelines – from the Concept of the New Ukrainian School (NUS) and media education to the Professional Standard of a Teacher. The lecturer emphasized that today, media pedagogical competence is not just an isolated skill, but a cross-cutting ability of a specialist to critically evaluate the information space, protect children from media risks, and methodologically and properly integrate digital resources into lessons.

The transition from deep analytics to the real context of primary school aroused particular interest among the audience. The professor presented the results of monitoring university educational programs, analyzed the implementation of media education elements in school textbooks on the Ukrainian language and art, and outlined a system of principles for working with modern students.

The event successfully summarized the “Pedagogy Week” program, providing future teachers with relevant knowledge about working with modern media. We thank everyone who was with us during these eventful days, joined the discussions, and shared this valuable experience!
